ESL Services

Learning a new language is a slow, difficult process, but is an essential part of obtaining US citizenship. With the help of its volunteers, RESAP is able to assist community members by providing tutoring resources in English skills using free curriculum provided to both the program's instructors and its students.

Responsibilities as an English as a Second Language (ESL) Tutor:

  • Required background check prior to tutoring

  • Spend one hour/wk working 1on1 with an English Language Learner (ELL)

  • Attend a 30-minute initial training session and 2 teacher meetings each year

  • Foreign language experience is NOT required

    • Many professional ESL instructors do not allow any language but English in the classroom
