Accomplishments
RESAP (and predecessor, Pella Welcome Corps) has had several successes helping refugee individuals and families in Pella.
Welcomed a family to Pella under the State Department's Welcome Corps program. Family members are settled in Pella, are employed, and are fully self-sufficient. (This was under Pella Welcome Corps.)
Assisted a family of five to move from Des Moines to Pella. The family had visited friends in Pella and decided they wanted to live here. They had found their own housing, and we assisted with finding employment and purchasing a car. Both parents are employed here in Pella.
Assisted a family of three relocate from Des Moines to Pella. RESAP found housing for the family, and arranged school services for their special needs child who was receiving services in Des Moines. RESAP also helped find employment for the parents.
Assisting a refugee couple who already were living in Pella. RESAP has provided financial assistance and transportation for the couple, along with support as they navigate the immigration legal system.
